We Got WAY High!

That's what Bryant came home from last week's youth conference saying.  He meant at the ropes course they got WAY high up!  In addition to the ropes course, they also went to Seven Peaks and camped at Utah Lake.  The completed a service project for the city, too.  The highlight of the trip was the temple day.  They attended the Bountiful Temple and then met some of our ward members at Temple Square.  One of our ward members sings in the Tabernacle Choir, and her son currently serves a mission with the choir providing technical support.  They gave each youth a couple of CD's and a nail from the original tabernacle.  Another ward member works for the church, and he took the youth on a tour of the tunnels under temple square.  The kids thought it was awesome.  Then they attended a baptismal session at the Salt Lake Temple.  Jesse's favorite part of Youth Conference was listening to Chad Hymas, a professional speaker. Take a minute and click on his link.  You'll want to read about his inspiring story. He reminded the youth that this life is NOT about them.  It's about serving and helping others.

And speaking of serving and helping others, our friend and Jaret's beloved seminary teacher, Van Heder, passed away last week.  He was an incredible man who kept the faith and continued to do missionary work until his death.  You can read more about his experiences this last 5 months at We Bleed Blue. You'll need a tissue (or maybe a box of them) handy.
