It's Over!

Well, at least that's what Jaret posted on his Facebook account.  I think he meant that high school is over.  He mentioned that he doesn't have to get up early any more. . . at least for class.  Did he remember his full-time job that starts this coming Monday at 6:00 a.m.?  And he doesn't have to study any more.  Did he remember the pesticide test he has to take for his full-time summer job?

I guess we'll let him revel in his glory and have a great time this weekend.  He deserves it.  Jaret worked hard during high school and did a great job.  We're very proud of him!  But ready or not, real life starts on Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.!

And how do his parents feel, you may be asking yourself?  Here are a variety of thoughts that have been plaguing my mind:
  • Will he be able to handle living on his own?
  • Will he remember to eat?
  • Will he keep the budget we helped him with? Will he realize his debit card doesn't supply an endless amount of cash?
  • How will he get along with everyone? Will he have good roommates and become friends with them?
  • When doing the wash, will he mistakenly mix the whites with the darks? Or worse, will he even remember to do his laundry at all?
  • And the main thing, will the homework and studying get done without our gentle reminders?
And will this feeling in the pit of my stomach that I'm losing my child ever go away?  What about the emotional outbursts and tears (mine, not his). . . will they ever stop?  I hope I can make it through this experience in one piece.  I hope by August I can bravely wave goodbye to him, smiling brightly without any tears. . . at least until we get down the road a few miles.  Then I will use the endless supply of tissues we always keep in our car!

Budget??? Hmm most of the time probably will he falter of course he is human we all do but you taught him well don't worry.
Getting along with everybody? probably not. But he is respectful caring and a really great kid You did great don't worry.
Will he mix his whites with darks...of course which will be fine as long as he doesn't bleach his darks...again you did great don't worry..
Studying and homework...probably not that is God's gift to you to ease into adjustment you still get to be the wonderful mom that you are... He will still need you!
You aren't losing your child you are getting to see all the wonderful things that you ever taught him take effect and some of them not...But in the end you get the gift of knowing when he turns out to be the wonderful man he will.......that God blessed you with having a part of it!
Finally You did great DON'T WORRY!
