When a Child Learns to Read

Isn't it fun when your kids start pointing out things to you they've read from labels? We've had interesting conversations over breakfast regarding cereal boxes, and interesting conversations during drives regarding billboards. But our most recent conversation went something like:

Mom: "Kaysen, while you were in the bathtub, did you use soap to clean yourself?"

Kaysen: "But, Mom, I don't have to use soap." At which point he runs back to the bathroom to retrieve the bottle of Mr. Bubbles he got for Christmas. "See," he says. "It says right here on the label that it makes getting clean almost as fun as getting dirty. Smell me. I smell clean, right?"

He was right. He did smell clean. He smelled like a fruit salad. Blueberry on his body and cherry on his head!
