We had a great time in Helmer visiting the Garrison family on their ranch. The boys loved the steak, the 4-wheelers, their first experience bucking bales of hay, playing with the dogs, and just plain hanging out and relaxing. We stayed through Monday morning, when we left for another drive to Cascade.
Lake Cascade is just south of McCall, Idaho. It's a beautiful section of the world that I think everyone should visit. Or better yet, maybe we should keep it a secret and enjoy the peacefulness and serenity of a non-crowded lake! We enjoyed 3 days at the lake, where we were able to sit at our campsites and watch the kids play in the lake and on the beach all day long. A highlight of this part of the trip was fishing with Uncle Bryce and Uncle Phil in a pond at the end of McCall Airport. We also really enjoyed surfing, body boarding, and wakeboarding with Uncle Stephen. It's very possible that the 5 pounds I gained on this trip were gained here, enjoying the wonderful cooking of my parents and my sisters and their families. We were fed incredibly well and loved every minute of it. . . from Italian night (spaghetti, meatballs, foccacia bread, garlic rolls) to Dutch Oven Pork Roast, Nice Rice, and Dutch Oven Potatoes and Vegetables to Taco Salad. It was all delicious. And the smorgasbord for breakfast was great, too.
No one loves fishing more than Kaysen, except perhaps Alyx who is now hooked, too!

Honestly, we're all quite sad that vacation is over and we're back to real life. Summer is almost over, we're hoping to move in a week, and then school will be starting. It's been an incredible summer!
